Hi you all, :D

I finally got news about this Ogg issue...and...yes...it's a matter of dsp (a new release should be used there).
I checked (though it's harder to keep "traces" of the ones who listen to Ogg the way it is than the ones who gets the MP3 stream) that some people didn't seem to experience any problem, while some others definitively did (and might get this error message Black Prince was the first to talk about (thank you black prince  ).

Untill now, nothing has been changed though as the station also seems to get some extra listeners ( Let's cross fingers... ), but I've got the new dsp "handy".

I am going to wait for a special moment (or post something on the site) to tell the stream will be down for some improvements for a short period of time. The trouble is that my automation system might be uncompatible with this new version (coming from a concurent in the streaming industry)...

To be continued... ;) Thanks for joining the site, posting, and...listening.

It's really appreciated.

Have a great day,

François

Hi François, I finally got round to listen to your excellent radio station (I've been really busy of late).

I love the music you play some great tunes a really great tunes.

Im using WinAmp 5.04 Pro and I have no problems at all receiving the station.

Thank you François for such a great radio station. :)

Hi Zyphon, :D

Thank you for telling me you don't have any problem while listening from the UK (I guess you were talking about the OggVorbis stream, weren't you?).
If this is the case, that's good news. ;)

And,...of course,...Thanks so much for the kind words. 'Hope you'll come over soon again (both on the site and on the stream).

Have a great day,

Fraçois

Hi, :)

As promised, here is some news about the Ogg stream of California-101.
The dsp problem should be over...and I personaly could stay more than one entire day connected to it (this last night...); A rare thing, comparing to the problems I was also experiencing...and the "long distance" between the server and my PC.

Please, feel free to tell me if you still get problems, like the one we talked about a few days ago.

As for low bitrates, I'm still thinking about the better way to do that at this point...That's a tricky one, mostly when I take a look at the big stations, streaming in all kindda bitrates....That's really food for though. lol

Friendly,

François

I've been on for like over 4 hours continuous, (last week) without any problems :)

Ogg Vorbis at Q=-1 (~45Kbps) sounds better than a 128Kbps MP3, if the source is not a re-encode. I sent you something via Private Message, at 45Kbps :)

Edit: Hey, Just heard the KVCD ad ;)

Great news... 8)
Thanks for the file...It is effectively a real good one at 45kbps nominal.

I totally agree as for the fact it musn't be re-encoded...but, will there be enough people on a low bitrate??? I would like to set up another new one, but...

I'll keep the board informed about that anyway. You can bank on it. ;)

I'll take a 45Kbps Ogg Vorbis over any 128Kbps MP3 ANY time ;)
So count me on :)

Edit: How about a 45Kbps (Q=-1) test stream :?:
