How hot?

How hot does your cpu get when you encode? My AMD rises to 56 degrees celsius, not very much I think...

It depends on the season. In Winter my XP 1700+ is has around 45°C,In summer it has approximately 60°C.

el_mero_zooter 03-27-2003 11:50 AM

how many fans in you 1700?

i've got only two case fans on mine and it hovers around the low to mid 50's C when encoding...
when i got my XP and my P4 kvcd'ing at the same time, u can break a sweat in the office just standing there and not doing much; dryer than the sahara too. Mind u my p4 has eight fans runs cooler but it sounds like the concorde taking off :D

I have only the cpu cooler!

The temperature's not much but it could get pretty high in the summer if the next summer is as hot as the last one was

If you want some extra cooling, I suggest placing a silent 80mm fan (Papst is a good brand although quite expensive) in the back of the case to blow the hot air outside. That would help keeping the other components slightly cooler too.

Then of course you could use something like this  http://www.motherboards.org/articles...ws/1201_1.html

hi friend...as i post here:
http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic....9b103dcc9e9c44

i see in my athlon 1.6 :
in my pc now:
idle of course.only in internet:

cpu temperature: 28c and
mb temperature: 22 c
when encoding with 100% of cpu (and overclocked to 1.9):
cpu temperature: 49c and
mb temperature: 28c ... 29c
(in hot days, with alarm in 50c using vcool)

the secret?
very simple..use vcool
http://vcool.occludo.net
really works...maybe the most cool prog that i use!!!

another hint that i did:
invert the direction of the fan in power supply:
means....the wind is going in the power supply, not out.
do it too!
is simple and work!

ps:
i buy a new(and cry with the price) philips 29(my passion)
after working with televisions i feel that philips have real image!

and buy and a new athlon xp2000 cpu ,but don't change is yet....
only sunday i will change,
is in my head to test if my brain can think faster ! 8O

vcool (v 8) ) is 8)

Agree, just encoding time are different.

JoZ 04-23-2003 04:34 PM

I was having some "reboot" problems with my mb+memo so I decided to
exchange mb+memo same model but different mb+memo.

Before
--------
idle: 47-9C
encoding: 57-59C

Now
-----
idle: 31-33C
encoding: 47-50C

I cannot believe that. My computer works much better after mb change.
I also doubled the memo from 256 to 512 and encoding is a little bit
faster, but more important the computer is just stable.

Khm khm I moved the cables a little bit to assure fresh air coming from
outside in better way will do better job. It could be just that

Hehe, my computers don't even have the cover on them :!:
I work so much on them, that I got tired of unscrewing/screwing
So my machines are nice and ventilated ( with air and dust  )
