Cleaning DVDs

Sorry if it's the wrong forum.

What can you suggest for cleaning dvd's - I have one here with a single deepish scratch - it gives CIRC errors in DvdDecrypter, after 100 read retries (!!).

Waht would be a good way to remove the scratch, if any?

I've heard that car wax is good :!:
I haven't tried it, but check this: http://www.techtv.com/callforhelp/ho...375597,00.html

Thanks mate. I'll try the car wax.

I've got rid of most of it with, would you believe, BRASSO !!

(it's very mildly abrasive, very fine particles, for cleaning brassery (as opposed to brassieres   ).

I use tooth-paste for scratched cd's...
takes some time to smear it off with a very soft towel, but it works for me.

Any product used to polish silver or copper object is good also.
Remember to always "rub" the surface of the disc in small circle and NEVER do a movement that follow the rotation of the disc.

with fluorine for blue medias, chlorophyl for green medias and no flavors for remainders? :?
just kiddin Jell  i know, it works very fine but is a little
"abrasive", don't? :?
i use car wax...no wax but like "cream"(liquid, don't know how to write) and with "teflon" that protect the media.
first i wash the media(yeah, water and liquid soap) then i use car "cream" before burn the media too! with circular moviments using cotton to apply and remove! ....the media turn in a "mirror" and you can comb your hair.

@ Fluffbutt
what means: "...for cleaning brassery (as opposed to brassieres ?" :?

@ Phil
for your media is better tooth-paste with chloroPHIL!

Jellygoose 05-11-2004 03:34 PM

I don't want to imagine how is a unwashed non-virgin RW girl :-)

Jorel - it was a stupid (made when tired) joke on brassery (brass object thingys, nick-nacks) and brassieres (over-shoulder-boulder-holders, boob hammocks, puppy palaces, whatever you want to call them).

Just a dumb dumb joke (that didn;t even work here for me, let alone you guys!).

Well, Thanks Kwag!!!

I tried it, had to use cutting paste (the stuff that strips the very top layer of paint particles off a car, to reveal shiny new paint) before the dvd would read. Had to do it 5 times, in a swirly motion, then is read perfectly.

THANKS!!

<ps> I also wash the dvds before use - always just a "hurrr" (breathy blow) then a polish with a tissue, about 40% need soap and water, then a fluffy towel dry).
