KVCD: Sound not in sync when played on DVD Player?

hey, i have converted a film to kvcd and i have burnt it to disc, when i put it in my dvd player it works, but the video goes alot faster than the sound. I used TMPEG to convert it and i changed the motion search precision to high quality (very slow), also i changed the template so audio was converted along with the video, so it would be in sync.
When i play the MPEG file on my pc it is perfect. Any reasons why it isn't on my dvd player?

You're standalone does not comply with KVCD.

Did you test it before to encode any movie ?

my dvd player does play kvcd becuase i did do a test, i encoding 10 mins of film and put dat on disc and it played fine. anyother reasons?

You tested the same resolution and the same kind of video stream (MPEG1 or MPEG2) ? Same framerate ? In other words, all the settings for your test were exactly the same than you used for the whole movie ?

If yes, there is also the problem of audio samplerate : it must be 44.1Khz and not 48Khz.

actually im not sure if my setting for the test were the same for the actual thing, i'll check dat out now and the sound was at 41hz not 48hz i had that problem when i started making SVCDs

So perhaps you're standalone can play some KVCD but not at all resolution (the one of SVCD - 480x480 - seems to be problematic).

i thought TMPG was pretty poor at converting sound?

most peeps recommend using headac3 and encoding audio seperate?

Dialhot 06-09-2004 07:00 PM

Sure ! But in fact that is not the problem there.

@spark58uk,

As Phil said, re-encode your audio to 44.1Khz. That's probably the problem.
