Perfect Template For Almost Every DVD Player!

Hi Kwag,

I found some very interesting results on my Panasonic RV-32 DVD Player. I used one of your dvd templates and are using resolution of 720x480 (Ntsc) / 720x576 (Pal) with variable bitrate from 300 - 4000. I then afterwards do the vcd header trick and then it play that high quality file on my player. The player doesn't even support svcd, but with that trick plays even bigger quality than the svcd. This quality is with no macro blocks at all with high and low motion. No color loss, nothing. Looks exactly the same as the DVD and even a 97 minute movie fits on 2 cd's and plays in my dvd player. My highest bitrate that can be played on my player is 2520, but i get 4000. With a lot of dvd ripping in trial and error i think that you must try this template and maybe post it as new template. Whe can maybe call it KDVD-Special-Edition-Template or something simular. I think that any player that can play svcd or work with the vcd header trick with bitrate of 2520 will play this dvd file. But remember to do vcd header trick, even if your player supports svcd. So it's more a matter of playing MPEG-2 (2520 kb/s) and then it will most probably play the 4000 kb/s file.

I've done a test on old Friday The 13th movies, because i don't want to buy the dvd. It looks exactly the same and sound is exactly the same (Those Days It Were Mono). I am busy with a guide and will post a sample and guide soon.

Definately The Best I've Ever Encoded Ever

For The Real Quality Freaks Out There!

Hi Tombuck
I would be very interested in the template. I've given up on VCD's because my home videos have too much action i.e. pan and zoom :( I'm just starting with the vcd header trick to see if I can do SVCD or DVD... CVD doesn't work. I'll be glad to try out your template if you attach it as a file.
TIA
C

Hi tombuck,

Yes, I've done a similar test in the past with my Panasonic RP-56. It plays SKVCD ( MPEG-2 ) burned as non-standard VCD, so it will play mpegs made with the KDVD templates too. But then, it doesn't work on other players. It will work on most panasonic models though.

@Shaq,
The VCD header is basically you multiplex your audio/video stream as MPEG-1 VCD. You do this with BBMpeg and set it to MPEG-1 VBR. Then you burn as a non-standard VCD. Not as SVCD. It's a trick to fool DVD players.

For Everybody needing the template

Hi,

For everybody that need the template, please private message me your email address and i'll gladly mail it to you. For some players you need to change the bitrate a down to 3000 kb/s and like kwag stated most Panasonic DVD Players will most likely work with the template.

Hi Dade,

I've tested it with a new sony dvd player. The trick works. I didn't check what the model is, but i founded that you need to lower my template's bitrate for better performance on the sony. Lower to about 3000 kb/s and try it then

Very good!! I tried some kvcd's disguised of svcd but it didn't worked but maybe with this trick it will work, i tell you later.

So long!

DaDe.
