Pioneer DV-414
Has anyone had any experience with this player? Would anyone know the max and min bit rates to use, and with what template?

Hi Trueg
Check this out them make your decision http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdplayers.ph...arch&#comments |
Thank you for the link. I had found that site once before and noticed that someone wrote that this unit can handle up to 1300kbps, but I don't know how accurate that is. I have tried all of the templates, and it seems like as soon as I deviate from a standard VCD I get problems with the Audio. All of the VCD templates work video wise. The KVCDx2's get choppy during high action, but the KVCD and KVCD plus template play great, except the audio is choppy. I would like to try and take a standard VCD template and up the bit rate, but TMPEG will not allow you to modify the built in VCD template. I don't mind having my movies on two discs I would just like better quality. I really like the quality of the KVCDx2's yet even if I change the bit rates to 600 and 1200, I still have problems with the audio.

I have a pioneer dv344 and need to set the min bitrate to 750 for all mpeg1 templates or my audio pops, maybe this will help you as well. |
Well it's worth a shot. Thank you very much!

SUCCESS! I tried the KVCDx1 template and set the min bit rate to 750 and max to 1200. When the screen was black (during the credits) the music broke up a bit, but once there was video on the screen it was all good. I think I may need to bump it up to 800 to clear up the problem during the opening credits. Now that I know there is a limit to the min bit rate, I bet most of the templates would work as the problems were mostly sound during low bit rate scenes. I will post my successes once I have tried them all so that my DVD player can be added to the compatibility page.

Pleased to hear it, this one stumped me for a couple of weeks when I first started using these templates and your right the min bitrate will apply to all the mpeg1 templates.
