KVCD: dvd player is giving me the chopped off edges?

Hi all

i have new information for you regarding the aspect ratio problem i am having viewing '51st state' dvdrip. It seems that even the original dvd source played in my dvd player is giving me the chopped of edges as the encodes are so its my tv thats having problems displaying the original dvd aspect ratio :(

Has anyone else experienced a dvd that doesn't look right on there tv compared to others?

Using overscan=3 on gripfit has nearly cured the problem but not quite, is there any other ideas you guys can think of?

I could live with a rip with overscan=3 but i gather 3 is a high value and is quality loss :-(

Any help greatly appreciated :)

I done 51st state rip and had no probs what so ever if the dvd is chopping of edges then its possibly a faulty dvd. But I done 51st state straight to normal vcd and had no problems.

also the film is just short of 80mins so you could process it onto one disc using the normal vcd template.

Its possible you DVD player is shifting the picture a bit too the left. This happens with my DVD player (cyberhome 528 with the latest firmware).

Cheers

Hi Rhino

thanks for the reply :)

Glad to hear i am not alone then. heh

Are there any work arounds that you know of for this problem?

Thanks again.

@Adder:

The fix for me would be to downgrade the firmware of my player, as i think this behaves correctly:)

Not sure if there is is anyway workaround. The only thing I could think of is, is it possible to shift the image to the left or right, creating a larger border on one side to compensate for players which shift the picture.

Sansgrip or Kwag would be better people to query on this one.

Last resort it is to raise the left hand side of your tv and try and shake that picture downa bit :D

Cheers,
