Apex AD-1500 KVCD template changes for 23.976 fps source
The KVCDx3-MPEG-1-PAL.mcf template will generate a MPEG-1 VCD that will play on my Apex AD-1500 when the video source is at 23.976 fps if the frame size and frame rate in the template are changed to any of the following and VCDEasy is used to make the VCD:
352x240 at 23.976 fps 352x288 at 25 fps 352x240 at 29.97 fps 544x576 at 25 fps 528x576 at 29.97 fps 704x576 at 25 fps 704x480 at 29.97 fps There may also be other combinations that will work. The template on the KVCD web page will not work with my AD-1500 without these changes. This may be of help to other AD-1500 owners. Credit goes to Heller for finding out most of this. |
I burn with Nero and it works fine too as long as you uncheck "burn as compliant VCD".
Thanks for disseminating the info, Peter! :) |
The 528x576 at 29.97 fps does not work. It should have been 544x576 at 29.97 fps. Sorry.

which one do you like best?
Which of those gives you the best quality, given that you can put around 90 to 120min. on CD? I use the LBR 352X240 and only change the lowest setting from 300kbps to 600kbps and the result is pretty nice. Now I am thinking if I should start using the x3 templates...

@Godfather,
For my Apex-1500 I now use KVCDx3 at 544x480 at 29.97 for 23.976 and 29.97 avi sources, and 544x576 for 25fps PAL sources and quality is very good. If I want close to DVD quality I use 704x480(or 576) at the same frame rates. I've found that the Apex doesn't like 544x480 or 704x480 at 23.976fps for some reason. Hope this helps! :) |
Hi Guys,I have an apex 1100w and thanx to pyromania and this disscusion i tried to change the framerate to 29.97 instead of the 23.976 and it worked,now the question is can you still use tok to do the prediction because Pyromania said you lose about 20% compression.
I know in moviestacker you can put it to 29.97 but when you put it into Tok it says 23.976 and do you have to change any settings Just wondering how to do it THanx |

Just wondering how to do it Thats cause Tok is reading your d2v file that u made with DVD2AVI force film, if what u want is 29.97fps than do it again and choose NONE. |
thanx ovg64,it is actually a divx movie ,is there anyway to still do it?
