KVCD: player will no longer play it at all?

I have been converting DVD's for a couple of weeks now and still dont understand a great deal of it. (just to give you an idea to keep it as simple as posssible :) the problem I am having is that i can create a 120 minute kvcd disk that runs fine on my computer but the audio hitches when played on my Apex 1100w DVD player. After reading this forum i found others had had similer problems and had been advised to demultiplex and remultiplex I believe are the terms used. I also followed a link from these forums to find out how to do that. All went well and pretty soon I had the mpg re-encoded after multiplexing but after I created the CD I found that my Apex would no longer play it at all. It would see the disc as being a VCD with PBC on but when it hit play it just stays at the background screen. was just wondering if any one could tell me what i was doing wrong. Also I might better add that my PC will play the multiplexed disk ok. any help would be appriciated.

I also have this player and have been experimenting for *weeks* with Kwag's templates. I get little periodic speedups in the video, brief skips in the sound. I've tried just about everything including:

Set minimum bitrate to 600 or higher. Same problem.

Tried MVBR instead of CQ. I think the same problem, PLUS crappy quality.

Demux/Remux with BBMpeg as SVCD. No help.

I believe changing to 352x240 worked OK.

(I may have forgotten some of the things I tried)

However, the best option I've found so far is to change the framerate to 29.97fps. This seems to work just fine. You can't fit nearly as much (at highest quality) on a disk, but it works.

The only other option that may work is to convert to PAL. My player did play a PAL clip OK on my NTSC TV, so....
I have been looking into that too.

Thanks for the thought i had not considered converting it to PAL but i know my DVD player will handle that format so i will try that. Any idea if that can hurt the T.V?

Well, all I know is one of the *original* clips that Kwag posted back when he started this site was in PAL. When I had commented on the 2 clips that *did* play well on my Apex, Kwag noted that one had been at 29.97fps, the other (A Farscape clip) was PAL, so... It would appear the player will play PAL, but does whatever is necessary electronically for it to play on a NTSC television. I dunno how that works, but it plays.
