trying to get a disk to work in a Sony DVP-S735D
Please can anybody help.
I've searched the forums as much as I can and now its time to ask. I'm trying to get a disk to work in a Sony DVP-S735D but without any luck. I have tried the sample file and the compatibility file but still no luck. If I use TMPGEnc with, say, one of the default encoders and then burn to a SVCD then it works OK on the Sony. If I use one of the "KVCD's" then nothing. Does this mean my Sony isn't compatible? Just to let you know I converted my source image straight from a Panasonic DX100 to a AVI file. If I can't use the "KVCD" files does anybody know a good high quality template for TMPGEnc that will work. Bazza  |

Make a sample with that template and try it out  -kwag |
Thanks Kwag,
I'm now looking for the file but can't immediately see it. By the way, are the "KVCD" templates for XVCD & XSVCD format? I've still been searching for info and according to some posts the Sony can also do these formats. The problem a lot of people have is the media they use. It appears that the Sony can be a bit fussy about the manufacturer of the disk you use. Does this sound right. I have only ever burnt SVCD before but only as a "Can I do it" type of thing, its never been serious until now. Bazza |
Sorry, forgot to say I'm working in PAL

You can also try the templates, but encode as MPEG-2 instead of MPEG-1. Many people can play their KVCDs this way, instead of MPEG-1. So you have several methods of encoding  -kwag |
Hi Kwag,
Right, I'm getting somewhere. I can now use the KVCDx3-MPEG files but I have a couple of questions. Using the MPEG1 file the picture texture looks good but its very jerky on the slightest camera movement. Using the MPEG2 file the picture starts for a second or so very blotchy and then frizzes. Is it a matter of making some tweaks? I'm back in the forums now looking for some suggestions. Thanks for your help and advice. Bazza |
