KVCD on Sony DVP NS-300 dvd player
 

Does anyone have a Sony DVP NS-300 ? What kinds of cd brands does it play and will it play 23.976 fos

It plays 352x240, 352x480, 528x480 and 704x480 fine at 23.976 fine, but it's VERY picky on CD-R brands :?
You're going to have to try several brands.

I only got Vivastar and Princo CD-Rs to work, and most CD-RWs.

Rumors are that Vivastar went bankrupt and Princo didn't pay Philips/Sony for the CD-patents, so buy a lot if you find them, I did...

There is a ton of information about this (and the models close to it) on the Internet.

The consensus is that is has to be a Blue dye media. The only media I could find that could consistently work on the NS-300 is Memorex CD-RW media. Slow burn times but it worked like a charm.

I have since upgraded to the Sony 5-disc and it plays ANYTHING that is burned as a VCD.

The beauty of the Sony players is that it does some cleanup on the source when it plays. I have viewed the same KVCD output on several machines and many places were there was noise or blocks on several other brands showed up smooth and clean on the Sony player.

Of couse those were all cheap brands... (i.e. Apex, Shinsonic)
