Is there a definative answer on the Pioneer 444?
 

With the new templates with regards to the audio skip. Using KVCDx2-CQ-704x576-_PAL_-2CD, what are the best settings??? :D :) :lol: :P :wink:

The 444 should play the 704x576 without a problem.
At least that is what's been reported.

Ripped .wav from avi @ 44100khz,high quality in virtual dub 1.4.10.
Encoded in TMPGEnc 2.55 Plus with KVCDx2-CQ-704x576-_PAL_-2CD.mcf, I didn't change any settings and I still get audio skips... :roll:

Anyone here with a 444 having the same problem? 8O

If it helps, it's a UK model. I'm running XP Pro on a 1.4 Athlon, 512DDR, 100Gb HD, Via 266 chipset. Any suggestions would be appreciated... :cry:

i have the pioneer dv-444, and i did notice a little bit of an audio skip. I have only just started using the kvcd templates and havent had much time to experiment yet, but i do know that the dv-444 does not like bitrates lower than 500. Will post more when i find out.

The Pioneer 444 doesn't like CQ very much and sometimes the audio skips, gets choppy or even plays in a higher pitch 8O It has been reported in this forum that changing the VBV to 22 does the trick. At least, it works for me (PAL version) :D

Can you try one more thing. Instead of having to re-mux as MPEG-1 automatic, change the template encoding from MPEG-1 Video CD(non-standard) to MPEG-1 System(automatic). See if you get the same result.

marky, you dont need to remux to anything, use the template,
use non-standard.. using automatic increase the file by 100-500kb for every megabyte...

everything is ok , no audio skip or loss...dont even need to remux, I have the pioneer 636d, so you have to play around with the setting

I'm trying different min bitrate to see whats my pioneer min req.

just use the setting your mention in your post but
change the stream type setting to non-standard..

everything will run in one go, leaving you the free time not remuxing :P

my setting are different to your obviously because I have the 636d and you have the 434 model... trial and error....

@ rackaboy, I used your advice with the following settings, MVBR min= 550, padding enabled, 44.1k 128k Dual audio. The audio is now perfect and in sync, but I get a slight stutter in the video that is noticeable(and very irritating) - any ideas. This happened with Rollerball,America's Sweethearts, The fourth angel and MIB2? :cry: :roll: :wink:

I've made some tests with the KVCD-CQ-352x288-_PAL_ - template and here are my results:

Summary:
Template: KVCD-CQ-352x288-_PAL_.mcf (20020628)
Video - VBV buffer size: 22 KB
Video - Rate control mode - Setting - Minimum bitrate: 400 kbits/sec
Audio - Bitrate: 128 kbits/sec
System - Stream type: MPEG-1 System(automatic)

No audio skips and good picture with my Pioneer DV-444! 8)

like I said, trial and error. every machine is quite different..

try upping the min bitrate to 600, check your video setting, change your sound to 160 etc etc, there is too much thing that your can test..

I mean it took me a while to find out what is good and not for my system :lol:

Hey guys, here is something to you try...

I have a pioneer DV-525 and it gets audio skips too, so, try to use the template as it is, but, instead of MPEG-1, use MPEG-2.

It resolved ( at least on mine) the skip problem, but it works only to pioneer, cos i´ve tested it on my sony DAV-S300 and there is no picture. :cry:

I´m really after of something mor generic, but, try it...

I´ve been trying to use the remux from tmpgenc, but i´m having some problems here. :?
Wich one i should use, the simple multiplex, the multiplex ?
The main problem is : I~ve used both and the files come out with 680, 690 Megs, but Nero says that there is not enough space on the media ( 800 Meg media )
Any sugestion ?
