Toshiba SD-2700 DOES NOT work with any kvcd templates
 

my toshiba SD-2700 would not play any of the the samples provided.

Have you tried encoding and muxing as SVCD, to see if it will play your own encodes?

I'm having the same problem with the Toshiba SD 2500, which seems to be a 1300 all over again. See my post:

Kwag, I haven't tried SVCD yet, that is my next project, I will let you know results in a couple of days.

The PAL PLUS 352x288 template works on my SD 2500, and it's awesome. Maybe try that?
