Watch .wmv files on my DVD player?!!

I borrowed a CD with some film clips on. The clips had the formats was mpeg1 and WMV with 320x280 reselution.
I tried the CD in my DVD player, Samsung M205, and it played all the files, including WMV 8O 8O 8O
I think the CD was burned in mode 1 (Data CD)
I don't know so much about wmv, but I think it's based on mpeg 4. Will mpeg 4 compress the video even more than mpeg 1/2.
So, will wmv create better quality than KVCD :?:

MPEG-4 is better as the normal MPEG Standart. WMV with the same bitrate is a lot better than a KVCD but I don't think you can play it on your DVD Player.
Perhaps the files have the end *.wmv but it's an mpeg-file.

does your player read divx ? If else, there is a problem somewhere :-)

And also it can read DivX It have not to read WMV. It'S totally not the same MPEG-4 standart.

No, my player does NOT play divX 8O
The player is about 2 years old 8O
It can play (X)(S)VCD and mp3.
I don't know why those files could be played, the only problem was that it had no sound when I played them on my DVDPlayer...
The wmv files was only about 10 secs each, I miss mayby 3 secs in the beginning of the file. But the quality was very good :D

No, I checked it by choose perfections -> Summary:
-Bitrate: 448 kbps

Then use Windows media encoder and encode a whole movie and look if the DVD player have problems.

I'll try.

WMP says this file is a Windows Media Video 9 video codec

How do I make wmv files???

azel 11-01-2003 04:00 PM

Mayby I was wrong
I tried to burn a new CD, but it didn't work...
Sorry

Windows Movie Maker 1 or2 Windows Media Encoder.
That the best and fastest Programms. They encode WMV Videos with a better SVCD Quality on one CD in realtime. I've test ist. But I can't believe it. 8O
