2 pass is better , because adaptative matrix?

In a single word : no.

In more words, there are 2 kinds of adaptative matrix in HCenc 0.21 : one that need to have an external extension that you have to provide by yourself, so I think this is not working on your PC. The second is introduced by the *lumagain parameter, and it is working in both CQ and 2-pass mode.

So basically, CQ mode is still better than 2-pass.

In the problem about maximum bitrate, a new instalation solve the problem...
