No, I didn't. I talked about Vobsub (don't know what kind of subtitle is), and convert to sup (again don't know if text or graphic) and mux with Ifoedit. I just used once srt, to feed to DVDlab Pro. I knew I didn't explain myself well   .

... and looked great in the preview, and can choose between bitmap and vector modes,... I'll try it again  .

Of course, it sounds greek to me. I thought it was written in perl, and then compiled in an exe I could use without even thinking on it...
Thank you anyway for your help.

I know but this was the begining of the thread !

But when you asked me :

If I manage to make Ifoedit way work, why do you think it should be the very last option?. Is it for being a too much time consuming?.
you were quoting my sentence that I started by :

If you are starting from a srt file...
But you cut off the begining and just quoted the end of the sentence ! For sure that meanings is not the same if you read only the last part. :-D

You can use the script without thinking... if you have perl installed on your PC :-)
If I use perl it is to not have to wonder with compiling :-).

Well Phil, I know that you know I didn't want to manipulate what you said. Just wanted to select those parts I thought esential to go on the conversation, and make it easily readable.

Some advanced questions on perl (hope you will know the answer):
- how do I know if I have perl installed? (running Windows XP Pro)
- with which extension am I supposed to be saving the script, to be run?
You see, high knowledge here

If you don't mind, as the subject of this thread is clear, I'll open a new thread to post my problems with sup files... (you already know that!)

You don't :)
Get it here: http://www.activestate.com/Products/ActivePerl/

And to answer your second question : a perl script must have a ".pl" extension (this way it will be linked automatically to ActivePerl).

Put the script in the same directory than the idx file. Open a dos window, go to the directory, and type "nameofthescript.pl nameoftheidx.idx"

digitall.doc 01-15-2005 06:13 PM

Thanx to both.

Phil, still didn't install ActivePerl. Maybe when I do it I'll find the answer, but...
what's the idx file?

Yes, I know.

It's just I thought you where still talking about ActivePerl in general, and not related to the problem of subtosup.
I see now you were explaining me how to use your script to fix the idx file and convert all vob ID to VOB ID 1, isn't it?.

Thanx again.

Thanx a lot Dialhot
Dowloading it right now.

I didn't update this thread for a long time. I'm using now the graphic subtitle way, and converting them inside DVDlab Pro.
Works OK. But till now, I wasn't able to make the DVD at a time. I mean: I have to make vobs for each film with DVDlab, and then import them in a new DVDlab project. It works. If not, it crashes.
