Proper PPE when building an capture PC
I spent Friday evening sorting through some old hardware I've had in storage, namely capture cards and other 'vintage' PC peripherals (anyone want a box of 486s?!).
Among my finds were an Asus/Conexant Falcon2 capture card, which is an OEM card installed in HP media PCs back in the late XP/early Vista days. The second card was an IMS Inc Turbo TV card sporting a BT848KPF chipset. I'm in the market for an 'approved' capture card at this point, but I figured in the meantime I'd install these cards, get an XP machine together, and do a few test captures. After the Turbo TV card blew a cap and caught fire, I removed it and filmed this sample clip from the Falcon2 card using the S-video out on my Sony CCD-TRV318. :mad4: Enjoy the charring and consider safety goggles when working with old boards and components! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXU_MuoGe_w |
