Cheap Place To Recover Hard Drive??
 

I just recently bought a 1 TB Seagate hard drive and out of no where this morning i turn on my computer and its not reconized by bios or windows at all. It seems to be an issue with the firmware and 100's of people have been complaining about this and so far seagate has done nothing. But all my videos were on this hard drive and a lot of personal pictures through out the years. Seems like so many peoples hard drives decided to just die these past few days in jan. like it was on a timer or something. I heard that since bios wont even reconize it that even if there is a fix from seagate i wont be able to fix this one since bios cant see it. So i need all these files off of here. where is a good place to get someone to do this and not make me broke at the same time??

So if you were thinking about buying one of these run.

It has over 200 posts on Seagate forums about the issue and other places so far they have done nothing about it and have had a 30-40% return on them. But right now that isnt an option for me. I need these files. If anyone can help please let me know

this is a possibility... have you got another hard drive? unplug this seagate. install windows on the other driver. then connect the seagate as an external or possibly as a slave drive. as long as the NTFS is in good order, you'll be able to retrieve your files.

you can get external ide or sata cables to plug into the seagate drive and have a usb plug at the other end.

I had trouble with a Seagate 1TB drive too, SATA/300 used internally. I solved the problem by putting it in an Antec USB2 enclosure, $40 at Circuit City. Try that.

Recovering a drive generally costs $500 to $1,000, from a reliable service.

It's my guess that the issue is largely the fault of older BIOS.

the thing is bios doesnt reconize it.

Did you use the exact enclosure I've mentioned? Most enclosures are crap. Get that $40 Antec, it's only slightly large than the 3.5" drive itself, black aluminum, SATA/300 rated, USB2. Try that specific one.

ya i did i bought that one for my gf computer and was using it. thats the exact one i have
