bad Seagate hard drives, firmware fix available
 
Last year it was discovered that many Seagate drives were imploding on themselves, bad drives that would brick and lose files. This included the following drives:

Barracuda ES.2 SATA
  • ST31000340NS, Part # 9CA158-301, 302, 303, 501, 502, 503 - fw SN06
  • ST31000340NS, Part # 9CA158-510, 511, 512 - fw SN16
  • ST3750330NS, Part # 9CA156-301, 302, 303, 501, 502, 503 - fw SN06
  • ST3750330NS, Part # 9CA156-510, 511, 512 - fw SN16
  • ST3500320NS, Part # 9CA154-301, 302, 303, 501, 502, 503 - fw SN06
  • ST3500320NS, Part # 9CA154-510, 511, 512 - fw SN16
  • ST3250310NS, Part # 9CA152-301, 302, 303, 501, 502, 503 - fw SN06
  • ST3250310NS, Part # 9CA152-510, 511, 512 - fw SN16

The firmware is supposed to fix the drive's problem.
