Risks involved in exchanging computer power supplies.

Hello,
I want to test the broken computer with a different Computer Power Supplies. So whether it is a good idea to pull the power supply from the old computer and use it in the broken one to test for other fried components.

Thanks

Links removed. Congratulations, you made the honor roll. What amuses me most is that your "USA" store is run from India!
...... Spammer go bye-bye now.

To answer the pointless question, however -- since this is an FAQ site, after all -- there's no reason to not use a known-good power supply in another computer. Just be sure that:
  • the type matches (ATX version)
  • it carries enough watts
  • it's clean, with no grime/dust blocking the fans
  • the fans haven't seized up while it lay dormant (the bearings can dry up and lock)
  • the wiring matches; you may need adapter cables
  • it fits the computer case; some custom PSUs exist from the likes of Dell, HP, Sony, IBM and other "big names"
