ISO making software for scratched discs?
 

Hello.

Could you recommend me good ISO ripping software, that can handle scratched media?
I want to preserve for myself only few of my DVD discs with games that are in not good consition after extensive use.
IsoBuster tries, but it's very annoying when at every sectr it has trouble with it pops a window with default option not being reread, but replace with zeroes. It's even moreannoying when I'm writing something, don't look at screen and suddenly a cpacebar agrees to the option of replace bad sector with zeroes...

All day I've been trying to rip one disc, dozens of times having it interrupted, because the software keeps asking me what to do, having default button doing now what I want it to do...

So, do you know any software, that would rip and retry as long as needed to make an ISO without disturbing me, while maintaining high quality recovery of data?

Scratched media is a hardware issue, not software. In most cases, you need to fix (ie resurface) the disc. Most DVD rental places have such an ability, most using the RTI systems.

You don't need legality disclaimers. There's a strong case to be made for personal backup/archiving if your own discs, regardless of country. It's those that want to "backup" Netflix, or sell "backups" on a NYC/China street corner, that are running afoul of legalities and ethics.

The disclaimer comes from bad experience from hydrogenaudio.

Apparently when you talk openly about backing up copyrighted discs, even for personal use, you end up banned.

I'll try different drive and ISOpuzzle.

As for resurfacing, I have no idea where this available near me...

Some sites have such draconian rules that the admins/mods themselves are the trolls of said forum. Sad but true. What happens is that site then attracts lots of kiss-ass members (ie, the high school teacher pets), and it reduces the quality of the discussion due to fear of breaking rules. Long-term, that always results in attrition of current members, and is a turn-off to prospective members (ie, fewer new members to take the place of the old). I've been online for many years, and seen this happen many times.

I've not been to that site in many years, mostly because it attracts "audiophiles" that believe in lots of unscientific nonsense.
