After 5 years, most do fail. How much do you care to spend?

I think I paid about $160. I bet the reason is it's non-PFC.

An APC warning for you:

Our local power grid uses new metering tech that killed all our APC units a few years ago. There is a known compatibility issue with whatever APC uses. So we swapped to Cyberpower -- and on the power company's dime. They had to reimburse us for all the lost gear. They didn't warn anybody, even though this had been reported by other APC users in other areas where the metering tech was in use, and APC themselves had buried weasel warnings in some documents ("might" blah blah blah). The power company tried to blow us off, so we threatened legal action (and would have carried through with it --most power companies are thankfully not 100lb gorillas, so you have a fighting chance). Not long after, we were called and told to submit a claim. Which we did, and within the month we had a check to buy new gear. This was several years ago, and the Cyberpower has been humming smoothly ever since.

This was at the height of my medical issues, so others here were handling it. I mostly just watched. This nonsense went on for 6 months.

A lot of people are unaware of this APC/metering interaction, and you still see "my new/not-old APC died" or "my battery keeps draining" or "my unit keeps chirping all throughout the day" posts. That's the metering tech interfering with the unit. It chirps, trips, discharges, and eventually dies.

APC and most other brands of UPS makers sell replacement batteries online, at Amazon, at shops like MicroCenter and BestBuy, and thousands of other sources all over the world. All you need is the model number of youir APC unit. It would also help if you hadn't thrown away the user manual for that APC unit, but you can probably download a copy from APC's website. The manual tells you how to open the unit, remove the battery, find its model number info, and get a replacement.

In my experience, the root issue is rarely the battery, and you just waste $10-20 that could have just been spend a new unit.

For years there, every generation is unit was getting better. Remember, battery tech R&D is hot these days, and it filters down to UPS units. I'm amazed at how light modern UPS are, and while having longer battery life.

Cyberpower UPS?
I have seen these on clearance at Walmart in days gone by, looking for 650w replacement, my ol APC BX 1000 bit the dust last year, currently using APC 350 that alarms now, and then, it will go pretty soon, I will look for Cyber Power unit. Not sure if power company issue applies to apartments, (my situation) or not.
