600 GB Harddive

I just happen to go into our new Costco store in Olympia, WA yesterday and was shocked to see a computer system from HP with a 600G harddrive. It amazes me that less than 10 years ago a top of the line system had 2.1G. That is a 30,000% increase in storage capacity. The talk on the street is they will have 1000g harddrives by the end of the year.

I doubt end of this year, maybe by end of next year. You only want Seagate or Western Digital for the larger platters, Maxtor sucks. Largest I've seen to date is 500GB. I have a 400GB USB2 drive.

I dont think I could stomach a drive that large, I myself have multiple 250-300gb drives just to keep my things organized. My greatest fear would be to get something like a 700gb drive and have it go bad and lose everything.

I must have the 1000gb drive - now I need to figure out where I can ship it so my wife doesn't know that I have bought it....
