Questions about a Laserjet Color?

I know LS has a color laser but if others do as well I would be glad to have your input:

I bought a Laserjet 4550N (with network card) from the ISU Surplus Warehouse sale for $40, it works fine but since I never owned a laser printer (I can now use my Epson R200 for just disc printing) I have no idea where to get supplies.

When the toner goes where is a good place to get it? There are 4 toner cartridges in this monster

Have you ever had to replace the Drum?

Any other issues that you have experienced? Whats a good paper to use for printing covers?

I ran the info and it told me the Drum was at 25% and the toners were at 58-75%

Your good for awhile on the Drum Mark. The toner costs alot, but they last quite a long time. Much cheaper than inkjet printers. HP also sells maintenance kits for those bad boys that need replaced every so often, can't remember if the drum is in there or if it is the fuser. Either way, very nice printer, especially for that price!

Yeah I had to dig down and remember when I worked for ISU how to set the Jetdirect610 but then OS X and XP were able to find it and its been working great!

I am very pleased :)

The fuser is at 75%

I bought Minolta color laser printer in 2003. The C-M-Y cartridges are $100 apiece, and K is $67. I've not had to replace my drum yet. It will cost about $200 when I do. The fuser should not need replacement on a Minolta. My dad's old HP Laserjet (B&W), I had to replace the fuser 2 years ago. It ran me $35 from a used parts dealer in Phoenix.

Remember that page ratings are at 5% coverage. With full-page color DVD cases, you'll maybe get 750-1100 pages (using a high-density cartridge) before a color runs out. Black tends to go first.

Color laser costs more than ink up front, but not in the long haul. The toner also lasts longer, is less of a mess, and looks much better. It's really a no-brainer to me.

I have a Minolta black & white laser printer and absolutely love it. Once I don't have access to a color Laserjet anymore, I will be buying one too :)
