DVD Shrink and x86 folder?
 

I'm trying to get DVD Shrink to default to Img Burn but without much luck. A previous post mentioned Folder (x86) in c:\Program files. I can't find it! Please help. I'm new to this field of copying and burning and would appreciate a simple explanation. Many Thanks

Are you working on a 64-bit or 32-bit operating system?
The "C:\Program Files (x86)\" folder is only for those who are on a 64 bit version of Windows.
If you are on a 32-bit version, it will be in the regular "C:\Program Files\" folder.

I'm using WinXP (32) and would appreciate it if you could direct me to the necessary folder and explain what it is I need to do.

wow, Now I am totally confused!

The article you recommended states that I should replace the DVD Shrink 3.2 exe file with the one in the attached mod file. Where is this mod file to be found?

In fact the folder where shrink was installed is in fact C:\program files\dvd shrink.

If you look at the referred post, you will notice at the end of the first post there are 3 files attached. What you want to do is download the 2nd file that says MOD in it. You will need WinRAR to extract the file (similar to how a zip file works). Once you extract the .exe file copy it and replace the one in the "C:\Program Files\DVD Shrink\" folder. It should ask you if you want to overwrite the file, simply say yes.
The same instructions are in the referred thread as well.
Hope this helps to clear up some of the confusion you are having.

Can you perhaps help me out with another question? Presently I'm having to use Avidemux (for editing) then AVStoDVD (for authoring) and finally DVDShrink (for shrinking and burning) Is there not a shorter route from I can use?

I need to tell you that I am burning DVD's and not copying DVD's.

There's no reason for you to be using DVDShrink. If your files are too big to fit on a DVD you need to encode them at a smaller bitrate. Only thing you should have to do is edit, encode, author.

What bitrate would you suggest?

It depends on the resolution and running time.
- Are these single layer DVD5 media?
- How many minutes is the video?
- Are these 720x480 or 352x480? (It needs to be 352x480 over 2 hours in length.)

It varies between 90 min and 150 mins

I don't have a bitrate calculator in front o me, but 4000kbps (4.0 Mbps) should look great and fit.
That's approaching superbit bitrates.
