DVD duplicator vs standalone DVD recorders ?

hi, just wondered why my duplicator is pickier about what discs i use than my stand alone recorder? also are you suppose to get more bad burns with a duplicator than a stand alone recorder? any info appreciated. thanks

Duplication, copying disc to disc on-the-fly, is an abusive burning method, and does result in more coasters than would a method that burns from a more stable system like a hard drive (computer) or live constant encodes (DVD recorder). Go ahead and still duplicate, just understand more coasters will happen. I live with this, as do many others, fact of life.

What discs work best really depends on the burner in use and firmware in use. Stick to better media, and you should not have issues. I suggest MCC DVD-R and DVD+R (Verbatim brand media), or SONY DVD+R. Those are easiest to find in stores right now.
