Making DVDs-software question!

What does everyone use when it comes to editing and making menus on DVDs that they have created or recorded? I think I'm ready to make the big jump from just using my DVD recorder for simple thumbnail menus and editing.

Please, I'm looking for simple programs to get started on.[8D]:D[8D]:)

I like TDA Pro, works for me - you can do simple menus or pretty complex ones if you want.

Can you edit DVDs too?

I would personally recommend using these -

dvd decrypter - rips the files from your dvd to save on your hard drive
mpeg - vcr - edit the episode and save as a mpeg
dvd workshop 2 - create menus and burn the disc.

Those are the three main ones i use to create my sets. they are all simple to use and very efective.

LS has info on how to use them on his site - http://www.digitalfaq.com/

I agree, I would use either TDA or Ulead to start off, then once you have figured out how to do the whole setup you can start using Photoshop and things like Adobe Premiere to make the DVD's more professional (if you want to, its not for everyone due to the time and headaches involved)

You can 'extract' video/audio content from dvds to create new ones - but you really can't 'edit' a dvd.

You also dont want to use TDA (if you are using TDA) to try and cut out commercials, while it can be done successfully due to the method in which TDA edits you often can have bits of commercials left in.

MPGVCR is probably the fastest and most detailed editor around. Its the ONLY reason I still have my PC because everything else I can do on my Mac but edit (until I get a Mac that runs Windows lol)

Yeah, TDA is a lousy MPEG2 editor. Use MPGVCR or VideoReDo to trim your commercials before bringing them into TDA. They are frame-accurate editors.

I use whatever works on my pc lmao! I use Vegas for more visual effects . Also encodes audio to 5.1 surround LOL.

Ulead for more professional feel. TDA for my lazy moods lol

Basicly whatever runs on my ancient pos . Thats what I use cookie lol

Thanks guys! You have really been a lot of help.I hope to be able to show you what I've been working on soon. The menus look pretty decent, except I have to get the font right.
