What is Sharp Super Picture?
First of all, Hello World! I'm really glad to be here, making my first post :D
I was searching info about this feature called "Super Picture", present in a few Sharp VCR models, but I couldn't find nothing about what It does. :hmm: Tried to find the user manual of my model [VC-M501SM(SI)] with no result. In other model's manuals (e.g. VC-M313HM) with this feature present only says: "SHARP SUPER PICTURE should enhacethe picture quality during playback. It is normally set to ON.[...]". So what do you think this feature does? Could be a good idea to keep it ON? I will make some tests with "Super P." ON and OFF to figure out any difference. Anyway, thanks for your attention, and have a nice and safe day! :salute: References: |
What it likely does is to try to auto-adjust sharpness and possibly noise reduction depending on the tape. Many other manufacturers did something similar like B.E.S.T/Video calibration on JVCs, OPC on Sony decks, CVC on panasonic decks etc.

These "enhancements" may have looked good for CRT viewing back in the day, but for capturing, disable them. (IMO)

Thank you both for your answer!
I'm going to follow the suggestion of msgohan and keep that feature disabled. Anyway my setup have plenty room for improvement, and I need to surf inside this forum to solve a few more questions. |
