Sony DCR-TRV460 unable to playback Digital8 tapes?
 

Hello everyone!

I have been scouring this forum for an answer to my problem with no avail, so here is my first post!

I have a Sony DCR-TRV460 camcorder that I have been filming Digital8 recordings with (on Hi8 tapes). It records fine, as I have been able to sometimes playback my new footage, or even old footage recorded many years ago.

However, more often than not, I am met with a playback issue in which upon pressing the play button (while on Digital8 playback mode), I am able to hear the winders running until they wind down and the playback mode is automatically switched to Hi8 playback mode.

Some things to note:

• The playback mode is set to 'AUTO' as opposed to 'Hi8/8'
• The Recording Mode is set to 'SP' as opposed to 'LP'
• Very few times the playback will work fine, more often it is choppy, and most often it doesn't work...

Is there any known solution to work around this behavior? Is it an issue with the video head? I would like to have playback functionality in order to digitize my footage.
