How to convert Sony V8 tape to MP4 digital file
 

Hi all,

I haven't visited digitalfaq.com for quite long time. Sorry I don't know whether this is the right forum for my question.

I have old Sony V8 tapes and expect ripping all of them to .mp4 digial files. My Sony camcorder, PAL system, has broken down for long time, leavinng no device to do the job.

Please advise what 2nd camcorder I have to purchase.? Thanks in advance.

V8 to mp4 directly will not look good. Capturing video is not like ripping DVDs, it's a more involved process, I suggest you read more about it to get familiar with the process, its hardware and software and come back with the right questions.

As to what camcorder you buy, I would recommend a D8 camcorder with capability of playing back analog tapes, preferably equipped with line TBC and has S-Video and stereo audio out.
