HDMI

What is HDMI? My tv set has HDMI hookups but what is it for, is it for like HD tuners? I've never seen a cable or plug for a socket like that.

This might help, in short yes its for use with HDTV, I do not think my DVHS (HDTV Recorder) has them but I think my DVR has one
