DMP-BD79 is "a multinational"

Code 1 = the USA
Code 2 = Europe

I've never seen a NTSC Blu-ray players that can play PAL, and it probably works in the inverse (no NTSC on PAL either). Yet the same Blu-ray players can often play PAL MP4 and AVI files.

Most DVD players had no issues with PAL and NTSC, either natively playing both, or being easily hackable.

It has nothing to do with Regions. It's about PAL and NTSC.
