Playback Hi8 tapes with Sony TRV130E?

hi guys,
i have several Hi8 tapes and digital8 tapes

all of them were recorded with Sony trv130e ... (which is a digital camera)
but a few years ago, the camera has broken a few times and i threw it in the trash

* i'm thinking of buying the same camera again ... to playback and to record to my pc

i have hi8 tapes..but they were recorded in this digital camera ..
they will work with a sony trv130e in this way right ??

thanks again for any help :congrats:

The tapes you have are recorded in a format called Digital 8. Any PAL Digital 8 camcorder can play them back. You can capture the tapes via firewire using WinDV or similar tools.

Just be aware that Digital8 recordings made on standard 8mm tape, and any recording made at LP speed on 8mm/Hi8 media MIGHT not play well in a different recorder/player (even if the same model), due to slight variations on tracking and other issues related to the closer track spacing at the slower tape speed and to the lesser magnetic properties of standard 8mm tape. This warning is included in most user manuals, but you may be lucky.
