AV multi-input to single output switcher, worth it?

As my collection of VHS's is slowly growing, I'm getting fed up with constantly unplugging and plugging different cables into my capture device. Is there any known quality degradation with the use of input switchers?

This is a good question. I have a switcher which I have left out of my loop, and wonder the same thing. Also if ANY switcher affects quality, or only low-end consumer-grade plastic...you get the point. Might be better if I get another USB capture device instead but I still want to know what the experts think.

Yes, the signal usually is degrading from a switcher.

I also dislike plugging/unplugging the devices, especially because it can lead to damaged input/outputs. What I do is have 3-foot extenders on everything. Then I can quickly plug/unplug without needing the get behind the device. These do not harm quality at all, are just a few bucks each from Monoprice. Do that.
