Sony HDR-FX1000E isn't detected
 

Camcorder turned on, both in camera and VCR mode, both in HDV and DV mode.
Not detected in device manager, not detected in Scenalyzer, not detected in HDV.

Onscreen there is "HDV/DV in i.link" status, yet nothing happens.

Firewire driver is updated, so is this a problem with additional software needed to detect the camcorder, (Sony's FAM?) or is there something wrong on the camcorder side, previous owner used HDMI to external recrded so as not to use HDV compression, I'm all tape. And it records fine on tape.
