Hi joonas,

Do you if the JVC HR-7955EK will work in the US without a transformer? Manual states 220-240v 50-60hz.

Thanks,
Eric

7965EK is rated 220-240V, but works perfect with 100-120V. The power supply inside is a worldwide 100-240V. I'm not aware of any recommended JVC that rejects 100-120V power, especially the 2000s models. By the 2000s, pretty much all power units (in almost anything) were Chinese made, simple worldwide power. The incomplete power ratings often had more to do with regulations/taxes/etc than technical reasons.

7955EK is probably no different.

If this 7955 is anything like my 7965 -- and it probably is -- it'll be a lovely unit for PAL tapes. (

Put it this way: 100-120V will not zap the unit. It will either work, or not work. (The opposite is what starts fires, trying to put 240V into 120V item.)

You'll need one of these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/115749289145
There are many on eBay. Get a basic 3-prong mains/UK to 3-prong North America
