FS: Big Voodoo TBC from lordsmurf, like AVT-8710
10 Attachment(s)
I am selling my Big Voodoo TBC now that I have finished my video project. I purchased this unit directly from lordsmurf on this forum in June 2023.
Lordsmurf Representations: According to LS at the time of my purchase, this specific unit is one of the very few he has encountered in 15 years that was not "bad." He noted that it provides performance essentially equivalent to a "green" AVT-8710. Regarding technical calibration, he stated that while other Big Voodoo units have values that are "drifting far from unity," the values on this unit are "still close to proper unity in the proc amp." Technical Specifications (per Manufacturer Manual): • Model: Keywest Technology BVTBC.Physical Condition: The unit is 100% functional, but please note the following cosmetic/hardware details shown in the attached photos: • Buttons: The external plastic button caps are missing. However, the inner button stems are fully intact and accessible. The unit remains easy to operate by pressing these stems directly to adjust settings.I have included high-resolution photos of the front and rear panels to show the exact condition of the unit and connectors as well as a PDF copy of the user manual. Price: $1,650 + actual shipping cost. |
I remember that unit. :)
This is effectively a late-gen budget BV unit, comparable to the mid/late-gen B+ Cypress green AVT-8710s. Not flawless performance on TBC strength (unlike certain others BVs), but should have decent transparency. Great budget TBC. Yes, many have drifted. This unit may have drifted some in the past 3 years, not sure without comparative re-calibration. What happened to that calibration values sticker on bottom? Yes, in the past 15+ years, I've only seen 2 copies that weren't noise-spewing garbage units. I sold both, bought both back, then sold both again. Keeping good gear in circulation is what I like to see. This stuff doesn't have unending supply, and I put a lot of effort into my refurbishing. |
I appreciate the follow-up post and information. To my eyes, this still functions exactly as when I purchased from you. Used it gently for my project and, as instructed, kept the unit OFF when not in use inside a cabinet in my bedroom.
As you noted, I peeled up that sticker a little to see the model and serial number underneath it. The calibration values on the sticker are still readable:

I picked up one of these from LS right around the same time. It still works great!

Last chance before this goes on eBay!

A while back I was interested in one that has SDI out option but when I found out that it does not have an audio channel processed along the video I lost interest in it, Not that audio is important for a lot of folks, but it's just my personal preference for capturing, Good luck.
