Wanted: JVC HR-S9500U front panel, display, PCB

Hi everyone. UPS did a number on my JVC HR-S9500U front panel during shipping. Cracked the display and broke the front PCB in half. Wondering if anyone has a parts unit that has those in good shape and might be willing to sell them.

Thanks for any help!

It's probably not UPS fault, but rather poor shipping packaging at fault. Most people pack VCRs like crap, instead of the delicate electronics items they are.

In general, the 9500 is not the best deck, and it's also a DD deck. It's only good if in top-top shape, and 99% are not, often not even close to my B+ grades.

I'd be wary of sinking money into it. Odds of finding just a 9500 panel are near 0%. You'd essentially have to buy another 9500 as a donor deck. Even then, no guarantees on the parts you want to work, or in the seller not also shipping it like garbage.

Well, as I was the shipper, I'm willing to take full responsibility for the packing, which I thought was fairly decent. Note to self, larger box and more/softer fill material in the future. I was shipping it to get serviced by Aram to have as a backup/alternative to my AG-1980P (which I also sent him, and which made it just fine). No, not the best deck, but his work is well-reviewed here and he disables the dynamic drum when refurbing these decks.

And yeah, I'm not at all willing to buy a whole deck just for the parts. Ridiculous prices, even on "for parts" machines on eBay. Thought maybe someone around here might have a parts deck sitting around and would be willing to sell me replacements.

That's unfortunate. :(

Yes, to ship a VCR, you really need to "burrito" it into large bubble wrap.
Then use a heavy-duty box (Lowe's Large Heavy-Duty is best, cut down as needed).
Then peanuts to fill the voids.
Anything else tends to be a gamble, and most lose that gamble.

It's a long shot, but here's hoping. :congrats:

And now we wait...
