Looking for an alignment tool for HI8 camcorders.

Modify a flat screwdriver with a Dremel. You only have to do a notch in it.

Try searching for "VCR alignment tools HT89" . It has a 6mm width blade. Make sure the size is correct for the guides in your deck or camcorder.

Bought the HT89 from Wagner in Australia, seems to fit the TRV65 guides, thanks for the tip!

Gonna buy a couple as spares. Took a few weeks to ship to usa.

That's the one. It's still possible to slide off the adjustment screw and catch the fast spinning precision aluminium drum so be careful using it.
