Wanted: TBC for VHS transfer

I'm looking for a TBC to help clean up VHS tapes. Please send PM or reply if you have one available.

Even though this is my first post here, I do know of a place where you could get TBCs.

tgrantphoto Is a pretty good place for that. Granted, TBCs can be quite pricey, but from what I've heard, they provide great results.

Do you happen to have any TBC-1000s? Are those cheaper than the Cyprus? I really don't want to spend that much for a TBC. Or is that what I should expect to pay?

TGrant is great, but right now he only has a couple of rack-mount broadcast proc amps, and those are not suggested for VHS work. You can read many, many comments from me over the years on this. Some posts from pre-2012 have samples. And then many other posters, like NJRoadfan and msgohan, have posts with sample clips as well. Rack-mounts were made for the broadcast industry, and expect better quality source than VHS.

The TBC-1000 is will be in the $800+ range, more than a Cypress. Though I really don't understand the insistence many have for getting at TBC-1000. Yeah, sure, great TBC, but it's not like it's the best ever, and everything else is crap. For example, I remember quite a few early 2000s conversations on "which is best, AVT-8710 vs. DataVideo" (back when AVT-8710 was green, before the problem chipsets existed), and arguments both ways had merits. All TBCs have quirks.

Quality TBCs have long been in the $500 to $1000 range, depending on model.
