FS: HR-S9911U, Super VHS VCR's with built in TBC

It is getting harder to find these units, basically owned all of them. In my opinion the 9900 model and the 9911 are the best JVC VCR's. I think the picture is better than the 9500 or 9600 and the 9800 tends to have a bit brighter color. The 9900 and 9911 has the best color level settings.

A few years ago had a batch of these machines. Everyone of them I had to rebuilt the loading bay. In 2019 the JVC's tend to have a few issues. The loading and the plastic gears under the drum. Once those plastic gears break and they do over time. The machine is basically shot. Sometimes you can go in an adjust the gears or add WD-40 and you can get the machine to work. It is hard to find those gears anywhere to replace them, it is normally about $250 to $350 repair but you can't find the parts. What you than have is a VCR that just sits and goes in to auto loading mode.

I can fix the loading on these machines and other electronic problems. The plastic gears you are better off buying another machine.

Got two of these units for sale, both of them are perfect, they are low use as far the heads, no problems or issues. Giving a one year warranty on parts and labor. Plus 10 VHS tapes of your pick. You pick what types of movies you want, have 1,000 VHS tapes.

The units come with a remote cause you need a remote with these VCR's.

The units are $650 + Shipping cost to your location. East Coast is about $25, Mid West and the South is $40 and West Coast is about $60 to $70.

Everything is done via PayPal.

Only have one of these left, the unit works great and I am giving away 20 VHS tapes (Movies) along with the order.

I'm potentially interested, but don't need the VHS tapes. Is the price still $650?

Only have one of these left, the VCR tapes are free. I keep getting PM's on this website of people interested. The one guy was from Canada and he would have purchased the unit but the shipping was going to be insane. Just had another PM and he has not gotten back to me. If you want this unit PM my account, it could go fast or not. This unit is perfect and it has a great picture and color.

How much is the shipping to Canada ?

deter 04-01-2020 07:21 PM

It cost me $20 to send a video tape to Canada so my guess is a lot at least $150.00. I would have to take the fully packaged box down to the store and get a quote.

I tried to get a box shipped from Atlanta to Toronto containing a unit about the size and weight of a VCR. Mailing cost was $140. I bought it from France instead, where shipping was $43.

US to Canada is expensive and an absolute rip off.

If you live near the border, you can use some services to accept items at border cities like Buffalo or Niagara Falls at USPS prices, then cross yourself to pick them up. Saves money if it doesn't eat up too much of your time.

US > Canada depends on many factors. I've shipped to Canada where the price is comparable to sending across the USA (Maine > Washington, etc). Sometimes it was high, the $150 range. Sometimes strangely low, about $65. It all depends on origin, destination, package weight and size.

I do find that 9000-series JVCs will be at the upper end, towards $150 USD. Those are heavy decks.

Even worse is sending AG-1980s. I acted as a proxy for somebody about a year ago, and it was about $220-225. But I pack gear well, it arrived in good condition, and that person was thrilled with it. I forget who it was, he/she may still be a regular here? I don't remember if it was sourced from TGrant (who will not ship to Canada, will not sell to Canadians).

BTW, deter, that AG1980 that I got re-capped by you a couple years ago belly up some months back. Worked great, until it didn't. <sigh> It needs another recap job. Yippee. At some point, I may want you you too look at it again.

Anyway, not to sidetrack the marketplace listing...

- good deck (until it eventually succumbs to DD issue)
- good person to buy from

I just did two units for a member of this site and when he got one of them, it didn't work right. When it left here it worked fine. I am going to fix that for him for free and cover the shipping back. That is what I deal with, those machines cost me a lot of money out of pocket to fix. My labor charges are like $5.00 an hour, you get the point.
Packaging for shipping is so important with the decks. Heavy duty boxes, generous amounts of large bubble wrap, lots of peanuts.
