Is this good Verbatim blank media?

Despite ordering Verbatim Azo DVDs like shown in the first image(verbatim2.jpeg), I received the pack shown in the second image(verbatim1.jpeg). I realise things change constantly in the DVD space, which is why I wanted to ask whether it is a good idea to use these as a short term archival medium (5-7 years). Also, is there a way to identify the year of manufacture and other such info of these DVDs on linux?. I am using a TSSTcorp SU-208GB drive in my laptop, but I also have a Sony Optiarc AD-7260S DVD drive on a Windows machine.

Sorry if this is poor formatting, this is my first time using a forum.

It's strange that it doesn't have the AZO logo. I'd be suspicious and return them.

You could run Mediainfo in WINE to get the media code and compare it at videohelp.com

AFAIK, there's no way to check the manufacture date. But it's definitely new packaging since it doesn't the AZO logo.

Not sure what kind of info you're looking to get, but the Verbatim optical disc brand and formula is owned by CMC Magnetics in Taiwan. Has been for years. So all Verbatim discs are now manufactured by CMC Magnetics in their Taiwan, China or Hong Kong. Same with Taiyo-Yuden. All other factories are closed or possibly in use by some other second or third tier manufacturer.

I guess I wanted to confirm whether this is one of those things where Verbatim changed their packaging to make the value series and the Azo lineup look exactly the same except for the small Azo logo on the Azo discs. But checking the Media code in DVD Identifier(MCC 03RG20), it looks like this is indeed a genuine Azo DVD spindle. I wonder why they changed the packaging again.

Verbatim changed the packaging a while ago to emphasize that the media was AZO. So instead of a small AZO logo, its now part of the product name in big bold lettering.

Thank you NJRoadfan. It makes sense now.
