Templates available for a (mini) poly case

1 Attachment(s)
Would either an admin or a member know if there is a template available for a (mini) poly case in a 10.4mm size? I have folding cases that measure about 4.75 x 5.5 inches that I would like to design a 2-pane cover for...

Yes, I do. That's more of a CD case, and is why it's not here. Maybe I should start a new thread for all the CD case templates? Will have to get back to this in a few days. Need to locate all the files.

Not to sound impatient, but I've been hoping I would have found the disc cover template size(s) posted here by now? Either here- or in a new thread, as the Admin hinted at...?
I would still LOVE to have a template which would allow me to create a cover for a poly case like the one in the attachment from post #17...
Hopefully you've located all the files?
Thank you in advance!

I'm confused by what's been said here. Above (in August of 2009), Admin said he'd put up more templates in September-October of 2009. Then in March of 2010, Admin stated he had CD-sized templates, had to find the files and would put them up in a few days. In a (different) thread dated July 2010 http://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/show...2006#post12006, Admin stated new templates would be put up in August-September of 2010.

Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0 has a generic CD template (see attachment). I'm just gonna try to fumble through with that, although the overall size couldn't possibly be long enough to cover the faces + spine of a poly case...

Thanks, anyway.

I've uploaded the jewel case templates at http://www.digitalFAQ.com/forum/show...work-2306.html

I'll see about adding more over the weekend, including that poly case you're after.

The biggest reason it's taken a while is because the plans were for more than just blank template. Ideally we're wanting to provide advanced pre-designed templates. A person can then pop in a few photos, type some text, and he/she is done. And I don't mean those crappy/gaudy templates you'd generally find in software. (Ones that were obviously not made by real designers who have ever worked in the CD/DVD production fields.)

But for now, I can upload some blanks for you. :)

grazie.

Blank is fine, I've known all along what I've wanted to do...Thank you!

I just uploaded the new CD double-disc poly case (DVD-style CD-sized disc case) template.
I printed one, put it in a case. Perfect fit.

Download the new templates at http://www.digitalFAQ.com/forum/show...work-2306.html

I just finished throwing my notes out with the trash (can already at the street) ... oops ... but I wanted to mention that the front side of the case is actually smaller than the back. I don't recall if it was 1/16ths of an inch or 1/32nds of an inch -- but it's one of them. The template is therefore 1/16th or 1/32nd shorter in width on the front. I don't think the case is molded exactly 50/50 at the spine. Close, but not exact.

The point of me mentioning this goes back to design theory.

Be very sure that you don't design anything important at the very edges of the spine or case faces. You might have to cut more off when fitting the paper into the case. Give yourself a cushion of 1/16th to 1/8th when laying out text and images. This doesn't mean the edges should be black, but rather let the edge bleed out with fill color background or a background image.

You may also want to trim an extra 1/32nd of an inch off the top and bottom, so the art stays 100% underneath the plastic. Otherwise paper may edge outside the plastic case, and get rubbed off from normal use. I always do this at the cutting stage.

Never try to create art that has a thin frame around it, because it will end up uneven when cut and fitted to the cases. Framing design elements should always be recessed by about half an inch to the interior.

Cut your art with a straight-edge metal ruler, a cutboard, and a sharp Exacto knife. Scissors and those "cutters" are sloppy. The only thing better than the knife/ruler/board method is a professional press cutter (as used on magazines, etc).

I was a print/page designer years and years before I started in digital video. (Still am, too!) :)
