Verbatim DVD-R whats better - MCC vs non-MCC
1 Attachment(s)
hello
I read the sticky post about verbatim dvds in my store I saw: Attachment 1295 http://www.inkandstuff.co.uk/largeim...batim43548.jpg is it a non mcc or is it the cheap thing since if its the cheap thing I prefer to pay less :) and lets say they are mmc are they better then normal cheap dvds from teac or other low level brands ? |
That specific orange + blue package is Mitsubishi media.
Those are the "good Verbatims" that you want. See this post: Which are MCC branded Verbatim DVDs when I go to a retail store? Quote:
Not even in the same class. Read the Blank DVD Media Quality Review |
I read those review but sometimes I still have doubts.
sometimes products are sold at a very high price and their true value is like the one near them at half price, thats just me :) I used disc info of nero and it shows : verbatim as a manufacture and IDM as MCC03RG20 and on my low cost teac : manufacture unknown lol but the IDM is the same the difference in manufacture is obvious but why isnt there a difference in IDM ? (from the link you gave there is an example if ID so why teac have the same ID like verbatim) thanks for any answer :) |
Media codes can be faked, which is the main reason you have to buy from a legitimate brand. For unbranded media (bulk inkjet discs, for example), you'll need to protect yourself by only buying from authorized stores.
The way to tell a fake from a real MCC is to study the tiny hub codes and stamper codes on the top and/or bottom of the disc. Look closely at that Teac blank, both top and bottom, possibly tilting it around a bit in the light. You should see anywhere from one to three sets of alphanumeric codes. Markings can be on the hub, around the edge, or around the various rings that move outward. These are usually very tiny, so a magnifying glass may help if your eyesight is poor. What do you see? Write them here -- I'll recognize them. In general, it's a simple exercise of comparing the known-authentic media to the questionable ones, and seeing if they are similar or different. |
on the teac: DVD-R 317M
(inside ring) on verbatim ze3264-dvr-j47c1 (inside ring) and on verbatim there is something on the plastic but I cant read it ..numbers |
That Teac medium is definitely fake. :(

The Teac is fake.
Another site reported a similar fake MCC about 6 months ago: Quote:
Fake media is a gamble, and carries a risk of complete data lost, as well as lost money. |
I burned all of my family vid on them all of them are ok maby one is messy but I think its because of the video camera software that converted it badly.. but still I ll reburn them just in case :)
should I backup important videos once in 10-15 years or those dvds could last around 50 years ? |
