Manufacturing practices and quality control don't really vary that much between the optical product lines. What was true with CD-R/CD-RW was true with DVD-R/DVD-RW, as well as DVD+R/DVD+RW and the later DVD+R DL, and is still proving true with BD-R/BD-RE.
A good company makes good products, while a corner-cutting company continues to just do the bare minimum.
It's safe and wise to extrapolate on the DVD guide/review, for the purpose of CD and Blu-ray blanks.
