Fake BD-RE media? Verbatim 50gb BD-RE has TDK media ID?

Hi all,

im a little worried, I bought online two BD-RE DL discks, the discs are white colored and on the outer edge there are words saying "verbatim BR-RE DL......"

see picture here:
http://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/imag...batimpod-1.jpg

When i used different programs to identify the disc, i was shocked, they all gave me a Media code id which belongs to TDK. It didn`t make any sense, since i saw some posts about BD-RE media with a verbatim media code id and not TDK.

would this be a fake disk? Is it possible that some BD-RE verbatim discs ever came with TDK ID?

As was true in the old days of DVD-R, some 10+ years ago, TDK is a good manufacturer. It's not the same TDK that it was years ago, now owned by Imation, but it should still be good at producing it own media -- which it rarely does. Blu-ray is, to my knowledge, the only discs it produces. It outsources production and medaa IDs (MIDs) for blank CD and DVD media.

That's (aka Taiyo Yuden) is known to use TDK for BD_R and BD-RE. So I'm not really surprised to see Verbatim using it, too. Verbatim has been known to use stock from other good manufacturers through the years. For example, Taiyo Yuden DVD+R in the "pearl" lines of DVDs, some years back (8x DVD+R era).

So fake? Not likely?
Bad media? Not likely either.

MKM is a better disc, but TDK is fine.
