Datavideo SE-500 as TBC replacement?

No.

The SE-500 has been discussed before more in depth, search the forum for those posts. :)

There's a slight chance it will act TBC(ish), but it's not an actual TBC, nor does it contain what any of us tape-converters would consider to be TBC. It's likely weaker like the DVK series, intended for live-camera (analog and digital-over-analog) workflows.

I have not budged towards my goal of digitizing video 8 tapes. So many other things get in the way of pulling the trigger, spending the money and getting the tools I'll need to do a proper job. So far, the only safe bet I've heard of is to purchase a work flow from you Lordsmurf. Someday I may contact you regarding that, but now is not the time. Thank you again.
