Is that JVC 7700 TBC on? Both images have chroma noise.

This all needs to be taken into context. You can see flaws on a still. You can really see flaws in motion. So this isn't nitpicking whatsoever.
If you need videos here there are (didn't think it would generate much interest over here)

Would still check that the drive belt is okay when you get it so you don't end up with it eating the tape, my V-804 had a bad belt and seems I'm not the only one with that issue (same with the video of the 782 I linked earlier).

First, as expected, the "6 video heads" and "advanced DNR" did not satisfy their claims of "restores older, worn tapes to almost original condition".

Second, you were absolutely right about flaky belt drives on these units. Although this one hasn't failed completely, it's definitely on death's door! At least I was able to capture some footage for comparisons sake before it completely konks out... good thing I didn't spend more than $20 on it! Although I guess judging by that vid you linked a new belt is an easy enough fix on these units.

If anyone is interested in "Toshiba's most advanced video technology available" in 1996 compared against what JVC offered a year or two later, here's the comparison footage (skip to the 8:17 mark): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8IE3ftXeww

That's basically what you get out of a basic VHS VCR with no line TBC.
