Hi8 capture service or DIY?

I have 15-20 HI-8 tapes that I would like to have captured in lossless digital format. Any recommendations?
I thought of buying the equipment myself and then reselling when completed but I wanted to see what other options are out there.

You may want to specify where you are located.

That doesn't really matter here, at least not yet.

For a DIY, you need a proper workflow. Not just random gear, not just an impartial setup.
For Hi8, camera with line TBC > frame TBC > capture card
Hi8 is too drop-happy of a format to even attempt lack of frame TBC in the setup, even with the line TBC.

For non-DYI, to outsource the project, you need to vet the service, be very certain you're not getting crap work in return, using gear that is random or incomplete. Too many awful places use generic DVD recorders, cheap "MP4" capture sticks, etc. Garbage work, and for prices not commensurate to what you get. In those cases, you're better off buying your own gear, using it, and reselling it when done. Quality gear holds value, junk is yours forever.

I'm located in Illinois. I'm just about to have this work farmed out to a reputable service. Which is why I was asking for a recommendation. Thank you

Then you really need to. Mind bender. Put Ed Norton on the map for many folks (along with American History X just before it), gave more to Brad Pitt. I'm more into TV/toons, but this is a movie that was worth my time. I rented the DVD when it came out, left theatres.

What makes you assume I've sold my BE75? Just because I sold a bunch does not mean I've sold mine.

I've been thinning the herd in the last few years, I had to because I was at a brink of becoming a hoarder, having passed the middle age this is when I need clutter free lifestyle. I'm still getting rid of stuff not just in the AV hobby but everything.
