Probably Video Toaster.
DataVideo SE-500 can maybe do some of that, too. |
1989 is too early for the Video Toaster. Likely an analog switcher like the Panasonic WJ-5600, which can do chromakeying. I have a Sony "Digital" Betamax deck (SL-HF860D) from 1988 that could do the multi-part, slo-mo, and zoom functions in the VCR. Maybe it was made with that or a similar VHS deck. One could loop video thru it and capture the effects without having to record to tape.
